Ivan Meets Audrey - 大量資訊交流的悠閒早晨
Ivan
Audrey ... ...more

New Earth-sized planet discovered
Olivia Krueger
About 185 light-years away, researchers have discovered an Earth-sized planet orbiting a dim red star. The official name for the planet is K2-315b but scientists have taken to calling it "Pi Earth", a reference to it's orbit which circles its star every 3.14 days. Astronomers don't know much about the atmosphere or inner workings of the planet, they attempted to estimate the heat of the planet ... ...more

Are brain-controlled video games the next big thing?
GameCorner
The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center was recently awarded over $8 million by the National Institutes of Health for their team's experiments into brain-computer interfaces (BCI). BCI's involve transistor-like chips, known as multi-electrode arrays, that are placed into a patient's brain to track neurons that can be used to control electronic components. One of the biggest successes the ... ...more

There may have been a huge explosion in the universe's oldest galaxy
Olivia Krueger
From Peking University in Beijing, China; Linhua Jiang and his colleagues were studying GN-z11, the oldest known galaxy in the universe. They were using the Keck Observatory in Hawaii to look at GN-z11 when they said they saw the galaxy become hundreds of times brighter in less than 3 minutes. High-energy radiation can create an explosion in space, known as a gamma-ray burst, which has been ... ...more

Humans Could All Be Eaten By Spiders In Just A Year
Amazing Facts
A study has shown that spiders actually eat what is equivalent to 440 million and 880 million tons every year collectively, which is just about as much as all humans collectively weigh. The mass of humans across the glove comes out to approximately only 287 million tonnes. The study that proves that was conducted by professors Martin Nyffeler & Klaus Birkhofer, identifying 45,000 species of ... ...more

Fact Check: Can Hand Sanitizer Start a Car Fire?
EnglishMajorLeagues
A number of internet stories have begun circulating about hand sanitizer igniting cars and causing massive fire damage, all with just a little bad luck. As always, it can be difficult to tell what's real and what's fiction, and in an age where most of us carry a little sanitizer on hand, it can be scary to think the bottle will explode in the heat. Bored? Try Extracting Onion DNA!
EnglishMajorLeagues
In middle school, I needed a science project, and I was bored by the typical baking soda volcanoes and planetary models. A few hours of googling turned up projects that I didn't have the equipment to try. But it so happened that one evening, I was asked to chop some onions, and we had quite a number of them in the fridge. Since we had so many onions, I thought I might use them for my project. ... ...more
