A 53-year-old man has been accused of passing himself as a young woman.

Recently, photos emerged from a Twitter account under the name @zaitaku_iyada showing an attractive young Japanese girl who caught the attention of many. As the account kept posting selfies and images, many followers became engaged and interested in the woman.

But to their shock, the account was later revealed to be owned by a 53-year-old man, who had tried to pass himself as a young woman by using FaceApp to alter his appearance.

Although the man hasn’t revealed his name, he told his followers on Instagram and Facebook that he wanted to study how effective the filters were on the face alteration apps.

"FaceApp, I'm addicted to it, and I'm uploading my selfie photos with cute processing,” he said. "You can also improve the tips and processing methods for taking selfies. I'm an uncle in his 50s who usually works from home."

As the use of FaceApp continues at a fast clip in Japan, people are growing concerned about identification issues related to crimes. The man in question too has been lambasted on Twitter and Instagram for faking his identity.
