The oldest and most powerful of all emotion is fear, said H.P. Lovecraft:

"The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear and the oldest and strongest kind of fear of the unknown." - H.P. Lovecraft.

So, it’s no longer surprising that many of us love to experience the fireplace or campfire when sharing and listening to horrifying stories, conventional ghost stories, and urban legends.

Are you sitting comfortably? I hope so because I've assembled more than one of the scariest, true short- story tales for you to read in two parts here on Just don’t read them at night, or when you’re all alone. I hope you enjoy them. Maybe try and keep all the lights on.

Horror Short Stories: (Part 1) By Chris Mentillo

1. The Hideous Statue:

Around two or three years ago, a mother and father required a much-justified break. So, they expected to take off for a night to relax - a bit of a vacation for the night. They decided to contact their most trusted babysitter. Exactly when the sitter appeared, the two children were by then resting sufficiently in bed. This gave the sitter an ample amount of time to relax and guarantee everything was ok with the children.

Before long, the sitter became exhausted and went to sit before the TV, yet she couldn't watch it from the first floor since they didn't require kids watching an excessive quantity of bad stuff on television there. Consequently, she called them and asked concerning whether she could watch the interface in the other room - their p room - the parent's room. Clearly, the parents said it was OK, anyway the sitter had one final request… she asked whether she could also hide the creepy human-size looking statue outside the window because it made her on edge. It was hideous looking and freaked her out.

While the babysitter continued to talk with the kid's parents on the phone, the telephone line disconnected for a second, and the father who was talking with the sitter at the time stated,

"Good Lord, please go and take the children, and get the hell out of the house as fast as you can… we'll call the police.

"Why?" the babysitter shouted in a panicked tone.

"Because we don't have any human creepy looking statue outside."

Within three minutes of the phone conversation with the parents and babysitter, the police found both of the adolescents and the sitter hung in pools of their blood. And there was no figure of any creepy statue ever found.
