Today was a tough day for UK based pizza chain Domino's. The company's CFO, David Bauernfeind, passed away tragically in a snorkeling accident while vacationing with his wife and daughter in Mauritius, on the east coast of Africa. Bauernfeind drowned while snorkeling approximately 150 feet from shore, in a report by the Sun.

“We are all deeply shocked and saddened by this tragic news,” David Wild, Domino's CEO, “On behalf of our Board, our colleagues and our franchisees, we send our heartfelt sympathies to David’s wife Nicolette and daughter Ornella as well as his wider family and friends.”

According to an autopsy performed in Candos' Victoria hospital, Bauernfeind died due to asphyxiation by drowning. A local yacht found his body near Belle Mare on Thursday.

Bauernfeind enjoyed a long career in accounting, and was beloved by his family, friends, and coworkers who survive him. Wild notes that Bauernfeind was "a force for good" in his work and in the company, and that he "will be greatly missed."

Bauernfeind's death appears not to have affected Domino's current stock price too dramatically, as it closed at $292.31, up $0.07 from market open.

Our deepest and most heartfelt condolences go out to Bauernfeind's family and friends during this difficult time.
