Easy Homemade Fruit Sherbet

Is there anything better than a frozen treat on a hot day? If you're struggling to choose from the grocery aisle (or just can't go there right now), and you have some fruit and condensed milk on hand, you can make sherbet right now, even without an ice cream machine! Some may prefer the dairy-free cousin of sherbet, sorbet, and that's fine, just make sure to use a dairy free condensed milk substitute, and you're good to go!

Firstly, you need frozen fruit. Any kind will do, really, but I recommend something that will blend really smoothly. Think of any fruit sherbet you've enjoyed in your life, like berry, melon, or mango, and you're on the right track. If you can find it in your local store already frozen, great! Otherwise, cut it into small pieces, and freeze solid. You'll need about 3 cups for this recipe.

Combine the frozen fruit (and any additions you like, such as herbs or flavorings, like vanilla or cinnamon) and 1/4 cup condensed milk in a blender or food processor. Blend the mixture until it's really smooth. Don't worry about it clumping at first-- that's supposed to happen! Let the smooth mixture firm up in the freezer if it isn't ready to scoop right away.
