Beloved actress Diana Rigg, most famous for her role as Olenna Tyrell in Game of Thrones and Emma Peel in the TV series The Avengers, passed away in her London home today, September 10. Rigg, 82, has been previously diagnosed with cancer in March, which her daughter stated as the cause of death.

"She spent her last months joyfully reflecting on her extraordinary life, full of love, laughter and a deep pride in her profession," said her daughter and actress Rachael Stirling.

One of Riggs biggest roles was playing the character Tracy in the James Bond movie On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) opposite George Lazenby. Her character was the first to become Mrs. James Bond, marrying agent 007 (Lazenby's character) in the movie. Lazenby took to pay tribute to the respected actress.

"I'm so sad to hear of the death of Diana Rigg. She undoubtedly raised my acting game when we made On Her Majesty's Secret Service together in 1968-9 […] As my new bride, Tracy Bond, I wept for her loss. Now, upon hearing of Dame Diana's death, I weep again. My deepest condolences for her family. Love George xx," wrote Lazenby in an Instagram post.

Other actors, producers, writers, and directors have expressed their sadness and grievance for the loss of Rigg. The Game of Thrones team also honored the actress through their Twitter account: "Be the dragon. The realm will always remember Diana Rigg," they wrote.

The last project she was working on was Last Night in Soho (2021), where she played Miss Collins. The movie has yet to premier, but director Edgar Write said it was "beyond a thrill to work with her on her final film."
