A pack of wild boars was captured on camera as they ambushed a woman and stole grocery bags from her as she came out of a supermarket in Rome, Italy.

In a video that was posted on social media, a woman in the village of Le Rughe can be seen being followed by a herd consisting of 4 adult and two young wild boars. The woman tries to desperately get into her car with her purchases but the herd of boars quickly overwhelm her, corner her and steal her groceries.

The little ones immediately grab the bags and start eating their contents while others take what they can and run away.

"I don't believe my eyes," the woman filming the video says in Italian, according to the Guardian.

The video has aggravated debates about controlling the boar population in Italian villages which have sprung up since the onset of the pandemic. Many villagers have complained of the animals raiding their gardens and rummaging through their garbage in the quest for food. Wild boars are also responsible for an average of 10,000 road accidents a year in the country, according to the Guardian.

"We must act as soon as possible and involve the army if necessary," Coldiretti, the country's largest farmers' association said in a statement, according to the Guardian.
