Confession: I love ramen noodles. Yes, I like the high quality stuff I can find in a restaurant, but as many of us can't go out at the moment, we're stuck with the cheap packaged noodles, dried into a brick and accompanied by a little salty flavor packet. Now I'm content with just that, but sometimes you want to dress it up just a little. Here are a couple of ways you can make boring ramen pop.
1. Add Protein and Vegetables
This is probably the easiest way to go. Meat is always an excellent option, and pork, chicken, or beef all pair well with ramen. However, if you're more partial to non-meat sources, eggs, beans, lentils, tofu, and tempeh are great, too. Vegetables round out the flavor: try cabbage or bok choy, or basics like carrots, broccoli and peas.
2. Sauce it Up
Soy sauce is an obvious choice here, but you can get creative. Try out sriracha, worcestershire, or fish sauce. Ramen is versatile enough to taste amazing with anything in your fridge, so try it out with different flavored broths!
You really can't go wrong with customizing your bowl, so go nuts! Add leftovers, season with your favorite spice blend, and make it your new favorite dinner.
