To promote its new Halloween event “The Haunting of Verdansk”, Activision has released a new trailer for Call of Duty: Warzone and it features a much-feared gruesome villain from the Texas City Massacre films, Leatherface. The chainsaw-wielding Leatherface was a cannibalistic and mentally unstable mass murderer who, alongside his family, kidnapped, murdered, and subsequently cooked unsuspecting travelers. The character is the only one to have appeared in all installments of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. And now the cult influential killers of the slasher genre will be making his video game turn.
Leatherface, however, isn’t the only character arriving in Call of Duty this October. The Halloween special event will also feature the satanic Billy the Puppet from the Saw films. The mysterious puppet acted as a vehicle of instructions for John Krammer to trap villains in the canon films.
“The Haunting of Verdansk” will also include nighttime versions of Verdansk, Zombie Royale mode, skins, and more. In a press release, Activision teased the spooky stature of Verdansk. According to the studio’s description, Leatherface haunts the farms in Krovnik. While Billy appears on TV sets of channels that aren’t on the air anymore. There is also a haunted train at the train station which possesses the souls of those who died fighting in the Gulag.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will also get an update soon that will allow players to access its Halloween aesthetics and modes. There is, for instance, a new mechanic that turns players head into Jack-O-Lanterns if they get a consecutive streak of 3 kills without dying.
Call of Duty‘s “Haunting Of Verdansk” will run from October 20 till November 3.
