Famed Smash competitor and Melee "God" Jason "Mew2King" Zimmerman is set to host a tournament for Project+ as part of his Frame Perfect tournament series. Project+ is a Brawl mod that is the successor to the famed Brawl mod Project M.

This comes after the recent #SaveSmash movement that begun after Nintendo sent a cease and desist to The Big House Online for its plans to use Slippi, a new method for playing Melee online, to host their event safely during the COVID-19 crisis. This movement lead to the reveal that Nintendo and Twitch took specific actions to make sure the Brawl mod would lose its popularity.

While the event has had some worried that Nintendo may step in to try and cancel this event as well, Mew2King and organizers have taken steps to make sure the event can remain a reality. The Project+ tournament currently features a $150 prize pool and allows players to use Matcherino to contribute to the pool themselves to show that events don't need to have a reliance on Nintendo to function.

If the event goes well, Mew2King hopes it will continue to grow in popularity. "I'm doing this every month, trying to grow it each month, [that] is the main thing." Some strong Project+ players have entered the event including Nogh and UpSmash&Pray.

Frame Perfect 4 is also set to host tournaments for Smash Ultimate, Melee, Rivals of Aether, Smash Remix, Kirby Fighters 2, and Super Smash Flash 2. All events will be streamed on Mew2King's channel with the Project+ tournament is set to take place on January 15th starting at 6 pm EST.
