In his recent appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, the A-List actor Matthew McConaughey addressed the rumors going around that he has plans to run for governor of Texas, which is his home state.
On the show, he said the rumors of his political ambitions made him laugh. "I have no plans to do that right now," he said, emphasizing the "right now" part. He explained that he doesn't understand current politics. "Politics seems to be a broken business, politics needs to redefine its purpose," he said.
The Dallas Buyers Club star said that as he progresses in life, he will anticipate more "leadership roles," which is something he says he's already doing, not only with his acting roles but also by urging citizens to vote and aiding relief for firefighters in California.
