There has been a huge social movement to validate sex workers as real workers since many people believe the contrary. Sex workers are often shamed for their jobs, but now younger generations are trying to normalize and uphold the sex industry as a professional means of providing for yourself and your family. However, sex workers on the site OnlyFans will now take a significant financial hit making it difficult to pay rent and make ends meet — and they blame actress Bella Thorne for it.

Bella Thorne was reportedly charging people on the OnlyFans site $200 for a naked photo of her. Many people paid for the service only to find that the photo is of her in lingerie and not a nude. Users were outraged and subsequently asked fo their money back.

As a result of the incident, OnlyFans implemented a new rule that only allows a $50 charge at a time for a pay-per-view post. In addition to that, content creators would have to wait up to 30 days to receive their payments due to a hold.

Content creators on OnlyFans blame the actress for the change in regulations. Many of them make a large potion of their monetary means online on the site, especially during the pandemic, while the actress just made $1 million alone on her first day on OnlyFans and makes just under $800,000 a year according to CelebWorth.Net.

Thorne took to twitter to apologize for her actions after the backlash. "I wanted to bring attention to the site, the more people on the site the more likely of a chance to normalize the stigmas, And in trying to do this I hurt you. I have risked my career a few times to remove the stigma behind sex work, porn, and the natural hatred people spew…" she tweeted.

She stated that she had herself wrote and directed a porno against the advice of her peers because she "WANTED to help with the stigma behind sex." She continued to say that she has a huge platform and with that she wanted to advocate for sex work and something bigger than herself. She acknowledged that in her process of doing that, she had hurt people and for that she apologized.

She added in a tweet: "Ps. I’m meeting with only fans about the new restrictions to find out why!!! This is fucked up and I’m sorry comment any ideas or concerns you want brought up to OF!! and send me your links and a pic so I can promote you guys."
