Radio online Bayern 1 is a radio station based in Munich. It is owned and operated by the public service broadcaster BR (Bayerischer Rundfunk).

In recent years, Bayern 1 has shifted its musical focus to oldies. Previously, it broadcast almost exclusively German-language and folk music.

Since autumn 2013, it has been mainly playing hits from the 1970s and 1980s. In addition, more recent pop music has also been played occasionally.

Other programmes on Bayern 1 include:

Heute im Stadion, which reports from 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and takes over the ARD Bundesliga conference, as well as Die Blaue Couch (the Blue Couch), which is broadcast on Sundays from 12 to 2 p.m. Besides a variety of talk shows and sports news, the programme focuses on the football world of the Bavarian capital.

Betthupferl, a goodnight story for children, is also broadcast daily at 19:55 on both Bayern 1 and BR Heimat. The programme was originally broadcast on Bayern 1, but since 8 January 2019, it has been also broadcast on BR Heimat.

Scheibenwischer, a political cabaret, has also been broadcast on Bayern 1. The programme was criticized in 1982 when it criticised the construction of the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal, and in 1986 when it commented on the Chernobyl disaster.

The programme also features regional news, weather and sports.

In addition to BR's main studio in Munich, it also operates studios in Nuremberg ("Studio Franconia"), Regensburg and Wurzburg. In addition, BR contributes programs to various television and radio networks. Among them are the national channels ARD and ZDF, as well as the regional networks BR Fernsehen, Phoenix and KiKA.
