In a shocking surprise that is sure to disappoint fans of competitive Overwatch, top DPS player for San Francisco Shock Seonchang "ANS" Lee has announced his retirement. The DPS player was famous for joining San Fransisco Shock as a relatively unknown player then managing to be a part of their championship team during his rookie season in 2020.

In a Twitlonger, Ans commented on the situation. Paraphrased from his post originally in Korean, he said, "I'm really sorry to be here with this news. I am retiring from Overwatch as of today. I've been thinking about retirement for about half a year because I've caused a lot of problems for my teammates from my mental and physical condition.

This recent retirement seems to have been in the works for a while and explains many other things that have been happening with the team during the competitive Overwatch offseason. San Fransisco Shock signed Gil-seong Lim and Charlie Zwarg, known as Glister and nero online respectively, which confused fans with ANS's previous success.

This isn't his first retirement from the sport having also done so on January 19th, 2019 before returning to the league in December that same year. It seems that the team would be happy if he does decide to come back with Andy Miller, CEO of San Fransisco Shock, commenting on Twitter,  "@ansansniper__ you always have a home with the @SFShock!"

Mental health and wellbeing should always be a primary concern, and we wish ANS the best of luck in his future to get the help he needs while finding future success in the world of Esports.
