After ongoing campaign in Scotland, the country's parliament has unanimously passed a Period Products bill to make menstrual products free and universal to all women, becoming the first country to do so. Tampons, pads, and other products will be provided free of charge in public areas.
This comes after a worldwide movement against period poverty, which fights for the fundamental right for women to be provided products and resources for women in need who can't afford them. The products will be provided in Scotland in all public buildings.
"Scotland will not be the last country to make period poverty history," said Monica Lennon, who introduced the bill in Parliament. This decision has been a groundbreaking victory for women around the world and the continued fight for universal women's rights.
