The 'Demons' We Face

Today I'm writing to someone special. Someone who feels hopeless and alone. Every day they come face to face with 'demons', their own personal 'demons' that torment them and haunt them. "Look what you've done. How can you live with yourself? You've hurt so many people. You'll never get out this black hole."

We all have our 'demons', some regrets, mistakes, failures, battles, no one is exempt. These 'demons' are loud and proud, seeking to tower over our very existence. They enjoy our feelings of dread and fear.

Most of us feel powerless against them, often the power they hold over us most is our shame, our guilt, the fact that we wish we made better choices.

I hate to break it to you though, but what's done is done. The question is what will you do about it?

The 'demons' would like you to believe that there is nothing you can do apart from camping out at these shortcomings for the rest of your life, but that's a lie.

The most powerful thing that you can do is to forgive. Not necessarily others. See, you're not trying to get rid of their 'demons', that's their own journey. No, you need to forgive yourself and realise that even if you hurt people in the past by what you've done, those who really love you, really unconditionally love you, know that more than anyone, you've been hurting yourself the most.

It starts with you letting go and stopping a perpetual cycle of nonstop lies about who you are, in spite of any past mistakes. You are who you choose to be as long as you can let go and stop listening to those 'demons' that will continue relentlessly if not silenced.

Forgive yourself, stop lingering on what might have been, stop believing it will define your future. It can only mould and shape it if you allow it to.

Forgiving yourself is an act of self-love in the purest form. Some amazing quotes to strengthen the power of love has been, "there is no fear in love" "perfect love casts away all fear" "love covers a multitude of evils", just to convey a few.

You don't have to cohabit with your 'demons', they don't belong alongside you on your journey. They are parasites and every parasite needs a host. Don't be that host any longer.

Finally, remember the quote in the attached picture, extraordinary circumstances create extraordinary individuals for extraordinary destinies. Those very 'demons' could well shape you in a way they never intended, for an extraordinary future. It was once said and remains true today, the path of life and death has been set before you, therefore choose life. I appeal to you, choose life.
