The Viral Pacifier Trick That's Soothing Babies Everywhere

A new method of sleep soothing is sweeping the internet, drawing interest and concern from parents the world over. One Laura Gerson, mother to 11 month old Amelia, was having trouble getting sleep when the baby would drop her pacifier (which she calls a 'dummy,') until she thought fast.

Laura decided that, since Amelia slept well with her pacifier, and went back to sleep when she found it, that she could make it easier for baby to find a comforting dummy. So, she placed 10 pacifiers in Amelia's crib, so she could easily find one when needed. Laura claims that Amelia now sleeps uninterrupted about 12 hours every night.

"Since my little one was about 3 months old, she's gone to bed with roughly 10 dummies in with her," she wrote, "Found that when she cried, all she wanted was a dummy then she'd go back off. 99 percent of the time she feels around, finds a dummy, sticks it in, and she's sorted."

I'm here to tell you, sleep is precious for new parents. My own baby never seemed to want a pacifier, but babies like mine without sleep issues need not worry about using this trick. But for a sleep deprived parent desperate for solutions, this could be a great way to get some much needed rest. Just be sure to create a safe sleep environment!
