Title of New D&D Book Revealed: "Explorer's Guide to Wildemount"

I wrote briefly before about the new Dungeons & Dragons book, speculating, like many, as to what the new release might include. Now, about two weeks after the reveal of the title, there's more to know about the book. It's not merely a lore book or explanation of new subclasses, but a starter kit for campaign creation in the world of Wildemount, the setting for the popular series Critical Role, headed by Matt Mercer, who contributed to the book.

The Amazon product description now reads:

"A war brews on a continent that has withstood more than its fair share of conflict. The Dwendalian Empire and the Kryn Dynasty are carving up the lands around them, and only the greatest heroes would dare stand between them. Somewhere in the far corners of this war-torn landscape are secrets that could end this conflict and usher in a new age of peace—or burn the world to a cinder."

However, although many were expecting a new full campaign book, the release is more of a starting point. The book does include "a variety of introductory adventures, dozens of regional plot seeds, and the heroic chronicle system," so DMs can use the book to introduce their players to a new setting and create new campaigns, but there is nothing to suggest a full featured campaign included in the book. "Vestiges of Divergence and the possibility manipulating magic of Dunamancy" are included in its pages, as well as the suspected subclasses, magic items, and monsters, much like those featured on Critical Role.

What do you think? Will this book be included in your D&D group? Do you watch Critical Role? Tell us in the comments!
