After testing positive for COVID-19, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been moved to intensive care after his symptoms "worsened" this afternoon. The Prime Minister had been admitted to the hospital on Sunday due to "persistent symptoms," reports BBC.

"Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the prime minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the intensive care unit at the hospital." the BBC report stated. The 55 year old will remain in the hospital ICU in the event a ventilator is needed.

Johnson was the first world leader to announce his diagn6of COVID-19 10 days ago. Early this morning, he tweeted his intention to keep positive:

"Last night, on the advice of my doctor, I went into hospital for some routine tests as I’m still experiencing coronavirus symptoms. I’m in good spirits and keeping in touch with my team, as we work together to fight this virus and keep everyone safe."

Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab will stand in for the Prime Minister during his illness.
