Before using this method, know that it will take time and patience to achieve fading, and very dark marks may never disappear completely. This should also only be performed after talking to your doctor, as your particular skin may have problems with lemon juice. Furthermore, your freckles can be a beautiful and unique part of you. But if you really want to reduce them, read on!

Lemon juice, as you probably know, is loaded with acid. The citric acid that gives it its pungent, tangy smell and taste is also an excellent bleaching agent for your skin, used in the right way. While it does bleach skin, pure lemon juice may be too much for some skin types, so be careful when applying!

1. Wash skin to be treated with mild soap and water, rinsing thoroughly. Pat dry.

2. Squeeze one lemon. It's okay to leave the pulp in the juice! For very dry skin, you can mix the juice with equal parts milk, plain yogurt, or honey.

3. Apply the juice or mixture directly to clean skin. Let sit for 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.

4. Apply a gentle moisturizer.

5. If going outside, apply a high SPF sunscreen. Lemon juice can cause photosensitivity, and may cause skin to react dramatically to the sun. For extra protection, wear loose, long sleeves and a wide brim hat.

6. Repeat 2-3 times per week, for 6-8 weeks, for the first signs of improvement.
